Background:
We offer a 5 year CARMS entry-level postgraduate medical training program that is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and supported by the Department of Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
Our program combines a diversity of clinical and research excellence which enables us to train expert clinicians, clinician scientists and the next generation of leaders in the field of neurology.
We continually strive to improve our program and adapt it to the changing needs of our neurological patients, evolving resident requirements and important developments in the neurosciences.
Toronto is a vibrant, eclectic and modern city that offers something for everyone in recreation, entertainment, culture and the outdoors. The university and teaching hospitals are well-located within the city core and are easily accessible by public transportation.
Goals and Objectives:
Neurology is a medical subspecialty concerned with the study, investigation and management of nervous system disorders. At the end of the training program the neurology resident should develop the necessary knowledge, attitudes and technical skills to fulfill the role of neurological consultant according to the professional attributes defined by the CanMEDS roles. Utilizing CanMEDS, we have developed overall as well as site and rotation specific goals and objectives for our program. We continually strive to foster an environment of academic and clinical excellence, mutual respect, and humanism that will permit our residents to undergo continuous personal development to meet the highest standards of patient care and professionalism. For a list of the various rotation specific goals and objectives please visit this link.
